Chris Hibbs
Newfoundland, Canada
| Biography Chris is an employee with Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada – Canada’s most easterly city. He is an alumnus of that university, graduating with undergraduate degrees in psychology and English literature.
Chris has occupied several roles in his 4 years of employment with the University. First, as a program coordinator of a skills training program for student employees within the department of Student Affairs and Services. Second, he worked within the field of student recruitment traveling over 7700 km from east to west to give presentations to high school (secondary) students about Memorial University of Newfoundland. Most recently he is employed as the Study Abroad Coordinator where he assists students preparing to travel internationally with planning, preparation and security.
Chris sees this opportunity in Japan to broaden his knowledge of international experiences, learn so much more about the fascinating Japanese culture and see how students are educated and prepared for the working world in this country. Further, he is excited to learn much more about Rotary and how it operates in the international context.
There are few opportunities of this kind available to young professionals to learn about and live in another culture, and Chris wishes to recognize and sincerely thank Rotary international and his sponsoring district, St. John's Northwest, for supporting him and his team in this endeavor.
