Biography Born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Holly is not only passionate about sharing her own culture, but also relishes the beauty and diversity of learning about and exploring other cultures. She feels very honored and is delighted to have the opportunity to explore Japan through the Rotary International’s GSE. In 2005, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in German and Linguistics, as well as a certificate in teaching English as a second language, from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is a vegetarian and an environmentalist, and loves being around children. In her free time, she likes to volunteer in the community, read novels, bake cookies and relax with friends and family. Professionally, she has an extensive background in volunteer management, youth leadership and community development. Presently, Holly oversees the volunteer programs at the Association for New Canadians, a non-profit, community based organization that provides both settlement and integration services to the immigrant and refugee population of St. John’s, Newfoundland. While on exchange, Holly is looking forward to learning as much as she can about Japanese culture and society. She would like to extend sincere thank-yous to her home district, 7820 and her host district, 2610, as well as her sponsoring club St. John’s Northwest for making this experience possible. |
